In 2002, Hans Blomen began selling one brand of machining machinery. That was the very beginning of today's Limas CNC machinery. Now, twenty-three years later, the company from the Limburg town of Neer has grown into a renowned importer of CNC machines of various European brands. Together with son Bas, Hans provides customers throughout the Benelux with high-quality machines, with a strong focus on after sales. "Because our manufacturers are relatively close by, we can quickly provide our customers with replacement parts."
Ever since its founding, Limas CNC-machinery has been moving particularly in the upper segment of this industry. Once started with Matec, today the family business with twelve employees also sells brands of numerous other renowned German manufacturers, including Spinner, Seiger, Hüller Hille, Alzmetall as well as the Spanish MTE. "The expression 'Deutsche Gründlichkeit' does not exist for nothing. German brands guarantee high-quality machines. Many machines from Asia may be cheaper, but on the other hand are often also considerably lower in quality," says Hans, responsible for sales, while son Bas takes care of after sales.
It is precisely this service and after sales on which there is a strong focus within the family business. "The relative proximity of our European suppliers is a great advantage in this respect," Bas clarifies. "This allows us to respond very quickly when a customer needs a replacement part for a CNC machine, for example. So thanks to the short lines of communication with our suppliers, we can help our customer get back on track quickly. This is essential, because every day that a CNC machine cannot be used, production comes to a standstill and costs our customer money."
Limas CNC-machinery's extensive customer base includes companies throughout the Benelux and from a wide variety of sectors, including mechanical engineering, aviation, defense and the semiconductor industry. "In doing so, we distinguish ourselves primarily through a personal approach and good customer support, even after the purchase. Customers have a direct point of contact in us. As an importer of CNC machines, we don't want to be the biggest, but the best," is how Hans and Bas describe their entrepreneurial vision. "Not for nothing have most of our customers purchased multiple CNC machines from us. A distinguishing factor here is the very high accuracy of our machines, which we always keep up-to-date. For many of our customers, accuracy is of paramount importance, so they like to work even more accurately than required by the applicable standards. By providing thorough maintenance and optimal adjustment of geometry and kinematics, we are uniquely capable of providing that high level of accuracy and reliability."
To serve their customers even better, the company decided three years ago to also focus on automation. "Under the name CubeBox, we sell several robot models that are the ideal solution for efficient CNC automation," Bas explains. "With this modular and flexible system, it is possible to run any brand of CNC machine autonomously, which significantly increases productivity. Especially now that there is a shortage of operators, there is an increasing need for automatic loading and unloading of machining machines."
Thanks to the unique combination of high-quality CNC machines, optimal after sales and automation, Limas CNC machinery is ready for the future. "And because with Bas the second generation has now joined our family business, continuity for our customers is assured," Hans adds. In conclusion, he points out that even the recent bankruptcy of supplier Matec - with which his company grew large - does not change that. "In the meantime, in fact, a German takeover candidate has already come forward for Matec, thus ensuring the continuity of this supplier for the future."
