To remain competitive as a manufacturing company, you must continually invest in the optimization of your machinery. To do this, it is best to work closely with a reliable partner. For thirty years, Germond has had a strong reputation as a distributor for the Belgian market of machining CNC-controlled and conventional metalworking machines from leading machine builders. With a team of thirty experienced employees, half of whom work in the technical department, this family business guarantees fast service: sales, delivery, installation, repair, maintenance, removal and training. Germond recently delivered and installed a CNC bed milling machine type Norma 45 from Correa at Gekon in Rijkevorsel, which specializes in turning, milling and construction work.

Germond was founded in 1989, with a focus on the distribution of machining CNC controlled and conventional metalworking machinery. The product range includes lathes, milling machines, sawing machines, tap arms, column drills and grinding machines. The company, with headquarters and showroom in Izegem, is an official partner for the Belgian market of several strong brands, including Brother, DN Solutions, Ibarmia and Correa.

"Nicolàs Correa, founded in 1947, specializes in the construction of high-end bed milling machines, column and gantry milling machines with large work tables, the dimensions of which are supplied customer-specified. The milling machines, including the Norma series, are distinguished by their very high machine stability, high reliability and the characteristic robust patented milling head. Not for nothing does the manufacturer offer a five-year warranty on all machines," says CEO Hans Donck. "We cannot show all the machines in our own showroom. However, customers and prospects can discover the large systems of this Spanish manufacturer in their showroom in Burgos. We are ready with our experienced team of thirty employees to further support the customer then. More than half of this group is part of our technical department, which is responsible for training, installation, maintenance, removal and repairs on site or in our workshop."

Germond already delivered and installed several Correa milling machines at Belgian customers, most recently at Gekon, in Rijkevorsel. The family business of Gert and Koen Oostvogels, founded in early 2007, has built a strong reputation when it comes to turning, milling and construction work.

"We focus on both piecework and larger series, including for large and complex workpieces. Besides turning and milling, we are particularly strong in construction work. In order to carry out all orders with quality and flexibility, we have a large stock of basic materials and commercial steel, and we have invested in specialized machines for sawing, broaching slots, pressing, rolling profiles and tubes, welding, turning and milling," say the managers. "Thus our machinery also includes a conventional milling machine with an X, Y and Z axis of 800, 350 and 350 mm respectively, and a CNC machining center with a reach of 1500 mm (X) and 650 mm (Y and Z). When we decided to invest in an additional milling machine, we first made a thorough analysis of all possible brands and systems on the market. That's how we ended up with Germond again."

Bart Willem, sales at Germond, adds: "They bought a Norma 45 bed milling machine, developed specifically by Correa for machining medium-sized pieces. The system with its robust design is characterized by a longitudinal movement (X) of 4500 mm, a transverse movement (Y) of 1250 mm and a vertical movement (Z) of 1500 mm. This machine is equipped with a UAD 0.02° x 0.02° milling head with a speed of 6,000 rpm, a Heidenhain TNC 640 control and a full enclosure with chip removal front and rear. This new milling machine was delivered at the end of October."

Quality of product and service

Germond places a high priority on the quality of its products and service, which again ensures a satisfied customer. "Germond is a reliable partner in all areas. They assist us with expert advice for purchasing machines and ensure reliable delivery and quality installation and commissioning," say Gert and Koen Oostvogels. "For the machine supplier, however, it doesn't stop there, because they are also responsible for maintenance and think with us how we can further optimize our machines over the years."
