House show Promas convinces with automation

With more than 250 visitors, Promas' two-day house show on Oct. 12 and 13 this year again brought in a fine army of interested parties. Maasbree was this time the setting for functionality and automation, in which, among other things, Hartford's custom-made loading cage played a well-deserved starring role.

With ringing names like Hedelius, CMZ, Promill and Hartford, few tenors of the industry were missing from the house show. Some unusual combinations also set the tone for an event that aspired to highlight some new ideas and principles for automation.

For example, at the front of the event was Hoffman's Garant loading system, which was to supply a Promill 3-axle truck. Richard Hermans is director of Promas, and explains the importance of this cobot system: "The customer cannot possibly avoid this fast and above all efficient form of automation, because here one can link the robotic arm and cnc machine without interface and without having to intervene in the cnc control itself."

The CEO of Promas also shed light on industry trends and prospects. In addition to the pursuit of functionality, simplicity and ease of use, among industrial customers, Richard sees automation itself as a defining argument for their investment. Richard: "The trend is one of more and more 5-axis machines, flexible robotics and powerful plug-and-play solutions. The determining factor here, however, is the quality of service after that sale. This plays an increasingly important role. "

That this automation can take the most diverse forms was demonstrated by the many other examples of combinations that showcased their functionality at the Promas house show.

For example, a great combination was the Hedelius Marathon pallet loading system with an Acura 65 5-axle. In turn, a Hedelius Acura 50 was coupled with a BMO Iridium system.

Robojob's workpiece loader combined with a CMZ TA20YS640 lathe also proved to be a more than successful marriage.

Finally, however, to complete the event, visitors were shown a beautiful Hartford LG - 1370 machine. The setup involved a machining center with a useful operational range à 1300 x 700 x 650 mm that was linked to a Yaskawa robot via a Heidenhain TNC640. A custom setup (the cone construction was offered by Promas purely for this application) that demanded the attention of many an event visitor.

The Promas house show event once again showed itself to be an important industry reference, and definitely set the tone for an era where automation and reliable functionality will continue to be the spearheads of a constantly evolving industry.
