In order to provide optimal corrosion protection, there are increasing demands for the preservation of sheet metal. Even with perfectly cut workpieces, there are certain "problem areas," such as razor-sharp edges or oxide at the cutting edges when cutting with oxygen. Edge rounding and oxide removal are indispensable for optimal preparation when preserving sheet metal. LISSMAC Maschinenbau GmbH offers an ideal solution with the SBM series machines. At booth 804 in Hall 1 at Blechexpo, the machine builder will demonstrate the SMART version, among others.
Experience shows that the coating thickness of the preservative on the sharp edges of the workpiece is often less than on the surface, so corrosion will occur here first. To avoid the coating splashing off the workpiece shortly after delivery, sharp edges and oxide must be eliminated. However, it is not true that greater rounding at the cutting edges always leads to better coverage. A study by LISSMAC Maschinenbau, in cooperation with the renowned paint manufacturer Freilacke, shows that depending on the type of preservation, coating thickness no longer increases significantly at a given rounding. Greater rounding costs more, but will no longer improve the quality of the preservation.
For optimal preparation in the preservation of sheet metal, rounded edges and oxide removal are indispensable. After all, they ensure a good adhesion of the paint coat on the cutting edges and reduce the risk of corrosion through optimal coverage of the paint coat on the edges. LISSMAC Maschinenbau offers machines of the SBM series, among others, for this purpose. These work on both sides, allowing them to remove sharp edges and possibly oxide in a single pass. This saves time, but above all avoids costly and cumbersome handling. At Blechexpo, the machine manufacturer will demonstrate, among other things, the SMART version of this double-sided machine, which is characterized by its modern interface and automations that make it very easy for the user to work efficiently and consistently.
