Revolutionary approach for storage of extraneous products
Building land is becoming a scarce commodity. A lot of companies with growth potential encounter this obstacle. At Deprez - National SME of the Year 2022 - entrepreneurship aims to boost SMEs, thanks to the exponential potential of their fully automated warehouse, which efficiently stores extraneous products.
"The sky is not the limit, only an opportunity" said Johan Deprez. "Height just offers a lot of opportunities for entrepreneurs. Parking towers and skyscrapers are already well established in our living environment. Even feed mills have been working top-down in their production for years. Now it is time for other processing plants to work in the same way. In this, we offer a next-level solution. With our customers in the fresh market, we already introduced that way of multi-staging years ago. Today, we are also assisting growing non-food production companies with advice and solutions to optimize their future new buildings. The foundation must be stronger and the height greater than usual, the big gain is in the surface area."
The fully automated Giraf warehouse offers possibilities for storing europallets, but more specifically for outsized goods. Thus, products up to 6 meters long and 2 meters wide can be included in the storage. After entering the pallet, a 3D scan is immediately made and the goods are weighed. The Giraffe places the pallet in the best available location. Customers choose from 500, 1000 or 1500 kg/pallet, or even more if needed. Result : so on 450m² and a useful height of 12m, Deprez's Giraffe can create up to 1,500 pallet spaces.
"Anyone who has to allow a forklift in a storage environment knows that there are a lot of limitations. I'm not just talking about the space and wide aisles required to allow wide items to pass. The possibility of damage to the storage racks, resulting in a disastrous outcome is a harsh reality. The human aspect is also a very important factor: a forklift truck requires a certificate, you need personnel and you don't want to know the dramatic accidents that have already happened with a forklift truck. To also reduce the risk of errors and damage, the Giraffe offers an incredible opportunity."
With the Giraffe, Deprez guarantees a 50% reduction in space and 100% in speed. Kortemark-based Deprez is not at its experimental stage when it comes to pioneering work. Just under 40 years ago, the company emerged from the scaffolding with a potato fall crusher, which revolutionized potato processing.
