Automation solutions specialist introduces its Medical Business Unit

We all know Cellro as a leading player in the development of automation solutions for the machining industry, but who knows that the company has also had a Medical Business Unit for more than five years? The automation specialist explained a bit more about this "maverick" part of the organization at a recent press conference.

Cellro, which has been in existence for fifteen years, was once one of the first companies to take steps to boost productivity in the machining industry - a rather conservative industry after all - by contributing high-quality and future-proof automation products. Meanwhile, the company has more than seventy employees and supports its customers worldwide in their automation needs with a wide range of solutions. The systems are distinguished by their low (simple) entry-level capability and flexible expandability into complete production systems. Automation provides a great ROI and a strengthening of the competitive position.

Business Unit Medical

Cellro has also had a Medical Business Unit for more than five years, born out of a request from one of its customers. It offers the orthopedic market a growing range of solutions tailored to the customer's manufacturing process. The medical customer was and still is very impressed with Cellro's vision on how to design automation in a future-proof way. This is evident in the modular structure of the systems in both hardware and software. Each system has its own functionality and can be used both stand-alone and in line production. The orthopedic industry is a rapidly emerging industry with a growth rate of 3.5% per year. The average age is going up, quality of life is getting higher and medical care is more accessible to people. This presents many opportunities and BU Medical facilitates the manufacturing process for clients, especially in joint replaces and trauma applications. Within this industry, BU Medical today works for the absolute top of the market in company size, revenue and technological challenges. For example, Cellro partners with DePuy Synthes, Stryker and other leading names in the orthopedic world.

Developments on customer demand

BU Medical develops solutions for additive manufacturing, machining, laser marking, ultrasonic cleaning, deburring and polishing as well as inspection. Product handling is the core of these processes. The customer's demand is central and from innovation and joint technology development the final solution is found. For example, Cellro offers a laser marking system with which parts can be marked with a unique code and thus be traced more easily. After all, traceability is essential in this market.

High level of quality crucial

Tapping into this market has enabled Cellro challenged to perform at a high level of quality enterprise, where the company has added various certifications and further standardized work processes. At Cellro, the user and his production process are central to the approach and rollout of the product portfolio. This applies to all customers, but certainly to the Medical Business Unit, where customer involvement is even more intense, as the automation specialist develops much of the technology in close cooperation with them. Cellro Medical has a deep-rooted position in Cellro as a whole. The manufacturer knows better than anyone else how to get from an idea to a product, and this is no different for Cellro Medical. Thus, high-quality technological systems with a very favorable TCO are developed. After all, the company knows its customers and their manufacturing processes and has extensive experience in implementing regulatory requirements. Flexibility, expertise, innovation and reuse play an important role.
