Automation and digitization are mandatory

Automation and digitization are more than a trend in the sheet metal industry. They are a must for companies that want to remain future-proof and competitive. After all, the demand for individualization is increasing worldwide, which means that companies must adapt their production quickly and flexibly to new demands and parts. Added to this are the increasing cost pressures from abroad and the shortage of skilled workers. Automation and digitalization offer companies numerous opportunities to meet these challenges.

For digitally connected production, we at TRUMPF are betting on Oseon, our own software that emerged from TruTops Fab last year. This is a solution for planning, controlling and monitoring production. A fifty percent increase in productivity is no exception here. A special feature of Oseon is that the software can fully automate the flow of materials in production. A large warehouse is not absolutely necessary for this. The software synchronizes the material flow with the production planning. To do this, users first store their production planning in Oseon. The machines in the entire production process continuously send their current data to the software. In addition to the data from the production schedule and the machines, the software also has information regarding loading, material inventory, the location of individual transport trucks, and the parts needed in the production hall. To provide each company with the right level of digitization, Oseon exists in three versions: Oseon Go, Oseon Grow and Oseon Flow.

In addition to digitalization, TRUMPF also works closely with partners to be ready for the challenges of the future. After all, together one is stronger than alone. To create ideal conditions for optimizing productivity in our customers' plants, solutions and technologies that complement the TRUMPF portfolio must also be integrated into the overall system. These include technologies such as deburring and straightening sheet metal, the automated transport of parts between machines, or feeding via smart material storage ... to name but a few. Companies such as Jungheinrich, ARKU, STOPA, as well as other players have years of experience in this area. We work with these partners, among other things, to standardize interfaces. This is an important prerequisite for using our Oseon software to control the production process across the entire flow and provide the greatest possible transparency.

At TRUMPF, we see ourselves as suppliers of solutions for the entire process chain within sheet metal working. We strive to continuously develop our knowledge with regard to production and all processes. We also use the Oseon software in our own Smart Factory at our headquarters in Ditzingen, Germany. Since 2020 we have been manufacturing sheet metal there for the production of our own machines. Feel free to come and take a look for yourself. We would like to invite you to Ditzingen.
