METAVAK and Welding Week take off

October 4, 5 & 6 is the time: METAVAK and Welding Week simultaneously at Evenementenhal Gorinchem. A visit includes meeting participants, discovering products and innovations, networking while enjoying free catering and gaining knowledge during the knowledge sessions provided by SMITZH and NIL, among others. Supplemented by the Director's Dinner, visit to the Student Meet & Greet Area, vacancies at the Wall of Fame and of course the Welding Symposium.

Meet the student at the director's dinner

Directors of metal companies are desperate for young technical recruits and students often have trouble finding an interesting internship or graduation assignment, MetaalNieuws recently reported. The directors' dinner held during METAVAK this year therefore aims to bring these groups into contact with each other. Also, students are welcome for three days at METAVAK and Welding Week.

This time, the directors' dinner - taking place on Tuesday, October 4 at 6 p.m. - is an informal buffet. According to Marie-Claire van Doremalen, regional secretary for South Holland of Koninklijke Metaalunie, that suits the purpose: "We want to bring students and directors into contact with each other in a low-threshold manner. And also directly, so without the intervention of secondment agencies."

During the directors' dinner there will be students present from HBO technical business administration and mechanical engineering of the Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences. You can also join and do not have to be a director. Are you not a hiring manager, but looking for contact with students (and future employees)? You can register via metavak.com. Student Meet & Greet Area

In the past, there was also often a special student afternoon at METAVAK. "But we see students signing up for a trade show visit every day," Van Doremalen told MetaalNieuws. "That's why we have a special Student Meet & Greet Area, where we welcome students every day and show them around. We want to get young people interested in technology and a lot of modern technology is demonstrated at this fair. Young people can see here what high-tech machines are being used in metalworking today. We ask the exhibitors to welcome students with open arms and teachers we have asked to give their students an assignment, so that they go to the fair floor focused."

There is also a Wall of Fame at METAVAK. Companies (both exhibitors and visitors) can put up their vacancies and internships here. 

Full exhibition floor with six segments

On the eve of the fairs, the floor is packed. Together METAVAK and Welding Week have six segments over which the participants are divided: Automation, Machining, Sheet Metal, Cleaning/Surface, 3D Printing and, of course, Connecting. The first five segments make up METAVAK and focus on metalworking in the broadest sense. Some of the exhibitors you will remember from last year, showing their developments and innovative advances. The other part of the exhibitors have newly joined and will also show off the finest and latest gadgets and techniques. The Connecting segment is the Welding Week trade show, focusing on joining techniques such as welding, gluing and cutting. As a biennial addition to METAVAK, Welding Week provides the complement to show you the complete range in the Dutch metalworking market during your visit.

Both METAVAK and Welding Week offer a freely accessible knowledge program throughout the three days. In two theaters, trade professionals share their knowledge so that you are prepared for the challenges of today and tomorrow. The knowledge programs are set up in cooperation with SMITZH for METAVAK and NIL (Dutch Institute for Welding Technology) for Welding Week.
