Cost reduction through material selection

Cost reduction through material selection

In a world where everything is becoming more and more expensive, it is all the more important to make informed choices when making purchases. When you want to start using metal to make your final product, you will soon find that the choices are vast. The choice of material has a major impact on the cost. Therefore, making a well-thought-out decision regarding the type of material can lead to cost reduction.

There are an awful lot of materials that cost relatively little. Here you should not only consider the cost of purchase, but also consider the long-term consequences of the material choice. Below we explain some of the materials.

Aluminum

It may be common knowledge that aluminum is a very light material. This means low transportation costs and easy processing that saves both time and money. Despite its lightweight nature, aluminum is still very strong and is not susceptible to deterioration from moisture and/or UV radiation. As a result, it lasts a very long time.

STAINLESS STEEL

STAINLESS STEEL has a wide range of types. One of these is the multi-applicable stainless steel 316. This type of material requires little post-processing. In addition, it is resistant to aggressive external influences. Think for example of acid and salt. It can therefore be used everywhere, both indoors and outdoors, without being affected.

Steel

And then we look at steel. One of the steels that can save costs is Magnelis®. Magnelis® has a protective coating that eliminates the need for painting. This protective coating makes the steel resistant to corrosion, which makes it last longer. A final, but not unimportant, feature of Magnelis® is its self-healing nature. This ensures that Magnelis® can be processed into the finished product without post-processing. Another type of steel that is resistant to corrosion and rust is Sendzimir. Sendzimir is extremely suitable for outdoor applications and lasts a long time.
