This clothing couples innovation with sustainability: with MEWA's new "PEAK" workwear, the skin surface of relevant body areas under the jacket and pants consistently maintains a temperature of approximately 37.5°C. PEAK combines the 37.5® technology, known from the sports industry, with the recycling of PET bottles. The result is an innovative fabric that is elastic, exceptionally breathable and heat-regulating, even after many washings. The collection with jacket and pants is offered exclusively in the MEWA service system.
The PEAK collection developed by MEWA owes its special functionality to the combination of different materials. The garments are thus what are called hybrid products and therefore have warming and cooling zones as well as parts that are elastic or protective. The polyester yarns used in this process are made exclusively from recycled PET water bottles. These are combined with organic cotton. In total, about 75 percent sustainable and resource-saving materials are used to manufacture MEWA PEAK.
A special feature of the PEAK collection is the combination of yarns from recycled material with the so-called 37.5® technology. Sports fans know this patented fabric: the highly functional fibers contain particles of activated carbon that can absorb or release moisture and heat. During physical exertion, the active particles accelerate the evaporation of moisture produced by sweating and thus also the dissipation of heat. When the wearer is cold, the active particles store the heat radiated by the body. Thus, the skin surface constantly maintains a temperature of about 37.5°C. This happens without the use of additional chemicals. MEWA PEAK retains these great properties for its users even after many industrial washes.
MEWA PEAK is designed for workers in industrial and craft sectors. The workwear is ergonomic and adapts flexibly to any figure. Elastic inserts in the jacket and pants give maximum freedom of movement, while abrasion-resistant inserts reinforce the knee, elbow and shoulder areas and increase the life of the garments.
With PEAK's products, the textile service company continues its sustainability strategy. Mark Weber, MEWA Product Development: "To speak of sustainable workwear, resource-saving production and maintenance are just as relevant as its life cycle. All this must already be taken into account when developing clothing. High-tech fibers will play an important role in workwear in the future thanks to their high recycling potential."
