247TailorSteel can also be found from December 28, 2020 in Robotland (Essen, Belgium), a technology park where young and old can learn about the world of industry and innovation. An interactive booth explains how Sophia® drives our smart factory and how robotization is applied daily within 247TailorSteel. Meet technology, robots and movement.

Engineering Paradise

Initiator and founder Luc van Thillo has been working for over five years to realize his dream; a technology and transportation park for children and young adults. In the old customs warehouse in Essen, he found the perfect location and started setting up Robotland. Together with Seppe Vandekeybus and Dave Vercauteren, he started looking for technical companies that wanted to become partners in the park. With the help of these partnerships, the park can open this month and everyone can get acquainted with the world of technology.

Young and old

The new technology park focuses on interaction and fun. Visitors are introduced to the most innovative transportation and robotics techniques in a fun and educational way. Robotland is divided into five sectors: water, rail, road, air and indoor transportation. The park is aimed primarily at children between the ages of 10 and 14. They are introduced to engineering and transportation in a playful way. Van Thillo hopes they will get a taste for it here and develop further in technology. Besides fun, the educational aspect is also central; outside is a train car sprayed with graffiti that serves as a classroom for Essen schools. In time, it will also be possible for college and university students to conduct research here for their thesis. In short, a park for young and old.

Robotland and 247TailorSteel

Also 247TailorSteel as a technical company, has done its part. Among other things, you will find a boat simulator, a harbor crane and a maglev track in Robotland. The parts for these machines were sent by our digital assistant Sophia® to our smart factory where they were cut by our laser cutters. How this was done is explained in a booth at Robotland. Through a video and interactive screen, children and their parents are introduced to Sophia®, 247TailorSteel and the robots within our production sites. Please visit once the corona crisis is under control and get to know the world of industry and innovation.
