Clean air is therefore an important cornerstone of sustainable production. Nederman develops cooling and oil mist collectors to maintain clean air quality in any production facility. Here, the patented Fiberdrain technology is the key to efficient filtration. In Nederman's customized solutions, energy efficiency is a priority in addition to air quality. Based on needs, one filter unit and one machine tool are coupled or several machines are connected to one larger filter unit.

Virtually all machining operations create oil fog to some degree. Fog occurs when that oil comes into contact with hot surfaces, evaporates and then condenses into microscopic mist particles. Those particles range in size between 0.1 µm and 10 µm, with, of course, the finest particles being the most difficult to filter. "That oil mist makes floors and work surfaces slippery and causes downtime due to contaminated circuit boards in the electronics of modern metalworking machines," says Geert Ceule, managing director of Nederman Belgium. "However, these oil/coolant mists also pose a serious threat to operators. At first glance, they seem quite harmless, but they contain microscopic particles that can cause health problems when inhaled, especially with prolonged exposure. Some studies show that oil mist can even result in an increased long-term risk of various cancers and skin diseases."

Clean air is a must

To ensure safety and hygiene on the shop floor, those oil mists must be filtered. Nederman develops cooling and oil mist collectors to keep the air quality in any production facility clean. The unique, patented Fiberdrain technology ensures efficient filtration, where even submicroscopic oil droplets are captured by the filters and drained back to the process, even in continuous applications (24/7). "It is possible to couple one filter unit and one processing machine, but we can also connect several machines to one larger filter unit. Thanks to our own piping, QF sealed ducting, we can perform any installation easily and professionally. Since this is a kind of mecanosystem, adjustments can also be made afterwards without any problems. In this way, we guarantee leak-free extraction of all oil or cooling mist," Ceule explains. "Each system is developed to suit the application. Air quality and energy efficiency are always at the center of this."
