Industrial automation specialist invests in 'pre-owned' and 'refurbished' laser cutting machine

Indeed, in some cases, it may be opportune to consider the purchase of a used, refurbished machine: smaller investment and shorter delivery time for a system that loses little in quality compared to a new machine. Thus, in August 2019, De Roeve Industries of Lokeren, a leading player in the field of industrial automation, expanded its machine park with a Pre-Owned by Bystronic ByStar 3015 4.4 kW laser cutting machine.

De Roeve, founded in 1991, today has eighty employees spread across the companies Industries, Perdum, Xpo, Xpo World and Agesia. De Roeve Industries develops and produces efficient and intelligent total solutions that ensure the continuity of business processes. "In the early years, our focus was mainly on service. That's how we made our name in the market and then evolved more and more towards project work. Today, we provide total solutions for the automation of production processes and guide transformations of manufacturing companies into smart factories, but we also still support companies in case of breakdowns or periodic maintenance, even as temporary reinforcement on the shop floor," CEO Koen De Roeve explains. "The company is divided into the Automation, Installations, Industrial IT and Mechanical divisions. Based on the required know-how for a project, the realization is done by one or a combination of departments. For example, for mechanical engineering we combine the knowledge of our Mechanical, Automation and Installations divisions, while for the digitization of business processes the Automation and Industrial IT teams join forces."

Choosing a young used laser cutting machine

De Roeve, synonymous with craftsmanship, competence and innovation, invests continuously in the expansion of its activities, the development of innovative solutions as well as the expansion of its machinery. Engineering, construction, sheet metal and assembly is done in-house and only machining is outsourced. "We want to carry out as much as possible in-house, because that way we can switch flexibly and reduce lead times," the CEO continues. "In 2019, we therefore decided to expand our machinery with a laser cutting machine. After a thorough evaluation of brands and systems, we ended up with Bystronic. They listened to our needs and since the machine would not be used continuously, they suggested purchasing a young used system, specifically a Pre-Owned by Bystronic ByStar 3015 4.4 kW."

"This ByStar was completely overhauled and, where necessary, equipped with new parts, making it as good as new. With an X and Y axis of 3,000 and 1,500 mm respectively and a capacity of 4,400 W, she is ideal for cutting work in sheets of steel, stainless steel and aluminum." 

Successful project

For De Roeve, this investment has been successful. "The machine was installed in August 2019, after which our employees received thorough training. Since then, every production runs flawlessly," concludes CEO De Roeve. "By the way, we are extremely satisfied with this cooperation with Bystronic. They ensured a smooth handling of the file and we can always go there with any questions. I would never buy a used machine from a dealer, but in this deal with Bystronic I had every confidence."
