Digital tool management 'Hoffmann Group Connected Manufacturing' celebrates launch

The Hoffmann Group has long been committed to the development of digital products. Last year, they introduced the new "Hoffmann Group Connected Manufacturing" for the first time. Using this software solution, small and medium-sized companies can manage their tools more efficiently and plan their use optimally. For this purpose, Connected Manufacturing provides a comprehensive overview of all tools and their digital twin in real time - from project planning in the CAM system to presetting and machine. In addition to master data, motion data such as storage or usage location and preset values are recorded and permanently updated. Based on this information, it is possible to always offer the right tool in the right place, preventing scrap, rework or machine downtime. A clear and intuitive user interface enables users to operate the solution in a very short time via a standard Internet browser, even without extensive training.

Tool information can be quickly displayed and sent via a scan.

The implementation of "Connected Manufacturing" is very simple: first, all tools are equipped with RFID chips and the chip numbers are recorded and linked in the central tool database, optionally with further information such as data sheets and set-up plans. From then on, the data moves with the tools and is continuously updated. For example, if a tool is pre-programmed, the system automatically stores the measured values. This creates a broad information base and a solid foundation for optimizing tool usage and reducing the error rate when configuring modular tools and setting up machines. The consistent monitoring of individual tools in real time provides a picture of the entire tool life cycle and makes it easier to estimate tool requirements, for example. Connected Manufacturing thus makes an important contribution to improving the organization, planning and control of entire production.

The measurement data are sent by the presetting to Hoffmann Group Connected Manufacturing. centrally transmitted and stored.

The current version of "Connected Manufacturing" provides interfaces to the following systems: Heidenhain TNC426, iTNC530 and TNC640 machine controls and Siemens 840 D, GARANT VG1, Kelch and Zoller presetters, CAD/CAM software from Tebis, Mastercam and SolidCAM and GARANT Tool24 tool dispensing systems. The latter makes it possible to automate tool dispensing, accurately control tool removal and automatically reorder tools as needed. This makes it possible to efficiently organize, manage and secure tool delivery.
