Metal construction company BD-Construct from Ravels, near Turnhout, wants to be and remain a modern company and has undergone quite a facelift in recent years. The family business built a new office and store complex and invested heavily in several innovative machines. The crowning achievement is the new Lasermach LFC6025/6000-III fiber laser cutting machine for processing sheets, tubes or profiles, which should be operational in early 2021. The Tollenaere is the distributor for Lasermach's laser cutting machines for Belgium.
The story of BD-Construct began in 1950 under the name BAX bvba, when grandfather Stan distributed International brand tractors. The tractors have since disappeared and made way for machines, as BD-Construct has grown into a metal construction company. In 2000, Dirk Bax took over the management from his father and in the meantime, son Maarten is also active in the company. "We specialize in metal constructions and focus mainly on total projects in iron, stainless steel and aluminum, from design through production to installation. We produce stairs, railings, gates, doors, poutrels, trusses... We can also provide clients with Corten steel constructions, such as advertising columns, mailboxes and planters, as well as mechanical engineering and truck bodies. We are an authorized dealer of Palfinger, the number one in the field of loading cranes: truck loading cranes, Epsilon timber and recycling cranes and container systems. Finally, we also perform maintenance and repairs on machines," explains Managing Director Bax. "All this is done in-house. We can call on an experienced and passionate team of more than twenty employees for this, who are ready for the customers every day. Moreover, we have extremely modern machinery for cutting, folding and cutting, as well as for welding metal workpieces with, among other things, a bending bench, plasma cutting table, plate shears and band saw machine."
The metal processing company near Turnhout has undergone quite a makeover this year. Thus, father and son Bax decided to erect a new three-story office and store complex next to the existing production hall. Moreover, a new production hall with an area of more than 1,600 m² was put into use earlier this year. At BD-Construct, they really do their utmost to provide an appropriate answer to all of their customers' questions. Therefore, in recent years they have invested heavily in several new machines to further optimize the machinery. "As icing on the cake, we went in search of a high-quality cutting machine that could be used for cutting sheets, tubes and profiles," states Maarten Bax. "After a thorough evaluation of the various technologies and systems on the market, we chose a fiber laser cutting machine from the Lasermach brand. For this we could count on the knowledge and experience of distributor The Tollenaere, who will install the system in our studio in early 2021." Marc The Tollenaere explains the project, "The Bax family chose a Lasermach LFC6025/6000-III. This is a third-generation combination fiber laser cutting machine for cutting plates up to 6,500 x 2,500 mm and tubes or profiles up to a length of 6,000 mm with a maximum diameter of 210 mm. This plate-tube laser cutting machine is equipped with a 4 kW fiber laser source for cutting plates with a thickness of up to 20 mm. The machine is combined with a pallet changer."
