Think vertically for your storage

Think vertically for your storage

Anyone looking to save money and time would do well to set up their workshop and warehouses efficiently. Solid storage racks will indeed get you a long way. But why not make the most of it and invest in a vertical elevator system from Modula? Because then you will combine minimal area utilization with a large storage capacity and lots of convenience.

From cutting tools and measuring instruments, over all kinds of components, to semi-finished and finished products: everything can be stored in an organized, clean, safe and fast manner.

Vertical warehouse technology is hugely interesting for making the best use of available vertical space while saving floor space. Modula can free up to 90% of floor space thanks to its vertical elevators. This of course has everything to do with the fact that these solutions use the full height of the building. And this in any environment and any industrial sector, because the technology is adaptable to a wide range of lifting loads, heights, sizes and options. "Especially in the metalworking industry, we see great potential for application," says Andy Van Mieghem, managing director of Vanas Engineering, which is Modula's exclusive distributor for Belgium. "From cutting tools and measuring instruments, over all kinds of components, to semi-finished and finished products: everything can be stored in an organized, clean, safe and fast way. And this without the systems suffering from the large weights common in the metal sector. After all, each drawer can be loaded to 990 kg. Not insignificantly, the load will always remain stable even if it is not loaded in a stable manner. Moreover, lifting equipment, such as manipulators or spring balancers, can be easily integrated."

Speed is no longer an issue
There is still a prevailing idea that such storage systems are very slow. According to Van Mieghem, that is an idea-fixe that no longer applies. "With the right software, you get very good results," he says. "You obtain the most profit even when storing medium or fast movers. Our realizations show that we can get up to 300 order lines per hour per maga-

hisier can process. But for that to happen, hardware and software must be perfectly matched. Today our team has as many as twelve programmers, which proves that we take the underlying software very seriously."

Safe, quiet and reliable
The heart of the vertical storage warehouses is the motor transmission system. This is an Eagle toothed belt that guarantees quiet, reliable operation and requires no lubrication. "Furthermore, the elevator systems are characterized by their solid structure," says Van Mieghem. "We always work with four steel uprights on which we mount lightweight steel panels. The structure is designed to carry 70 tons of load and is therefore very robust. As a result, the vertical storage warehouses also require little maintenance. Access is granted only to authorized operators via badges or passwords, which increases safety on the shop floor. The fact that no one still has to use ladders or walk around in the warehouse also contributes to this. Because the products are taken directly to the collection point using the goods-to-man principle."
