Siemens is launching two new Plant Intelligence options for the WinCC Unified system: the "Performance Insight" and "Calendar" options will complement the WinCC Unified visualization system with functions that enable greater transparency and structured planning of production processes. The additional options can be individually combined depending on the desired use of the application, and they are fully integrated into the system so that all functions are available to the user on different devices such as tablet or PC. By using the information thus obtained to plan ahead, costs can be reduced and production errors avoided. In addition, production facilities can be better utilized, increasing effectiveness and efficiency.
The new Performance Insight option provides the user with both a formula editor to calculate critical performance indicators (KPIs) according to ISO standard 22400, and an extensive choice of WinCC controls for their display and for analysis purposes. The performance, quality and availability of the production plant can be visualized using a wide range of different charts such as bar charts, Gantt charts and Multiline charts to calculate overall equipment effectiveness (OEE). Plant operators can record the status of the entire production process, from the general plant level to individual machines, allowing systematic detection of what can still be optimized.
The Calendar option for visualizing structured scheduling of production processes is now available in WinCC. This feature is used to determine the running time of machines and plants and to create standard templates for recurring production days and shifts. In addition, the calendar function can be used to write out process execution on a timeline and, based on this, consider starting up a machine before the start of a work shift, for example. Because the new Calendar option takes operating times into account, production processes and events can be planned more flexibly.
