European premiere at EMO Hannover 2025: Okuma's MS-320H machining center increases automation and efficiency in production 

The ideal machine for small workpieces and any batch size 

In industries such as automotive, semiconductor manufacturing and hydraulic and pneumatic systems manufacturing, staff reductions are becoming more common. Production areas are also being downsized to save costs, which means that even the smallest spaces must be used efficiently. Okuma is responding to these and many other challenges in the manufacturing industry with an innovative European premiere: the MS-320H horizontal machining center. From September 22 to 26, Okuma Europe will demonstrate the machine live for the first time at EMO Hannover 2025 at booth D28 in Hall 14. 

002 Okuma MS 320H

The MS-320H enables automation of various tasks, allowing longer lead times without manual intervention. Three key features are particularly important. 

First, the MS-320H can automate a wide range of production setups, from individual machining cells to multiple production lines.

In particular, it is equipped with a compact automatic loading cell hatch to increase efficiency in high-volume production. Machine parts can be loaded and unloaded in seconds without the need for further intervention by a machine operator. The machine also has a compact footprint, making it easy to integrate into a mixed production line alongside a lathe. This eliminates the need for additional loading systems. The system can also be combined with a mobile cooperating robot, depending on capacity requirements. An automated workpiece changer enables the production of various products in relatively small quantities. The machine has eight hydraulic and pneumatic ports on the machine table for automatic clamping of workpieces.

The MS-320H has an advanced design and smart technologies that enable fully autonomous production. 

Chip management often encounters problems during the production process. The MS-320H has a smart design that ensures reliable, long production times without the need to clean the machine room. The vertical table arrangement prevents chips from accumulating, and a continuous chip conveyor ensures that they are disposed of quickly and reliably.

Several proven Okuma technologies also support interruption-free production processes: The Thermo-Friendly Concept compensates for temperature fluctuations and contributes to high dimensional stability in long-term continuous operation. ECO Suite Plus promotes energy-efficient production processes by recording and analyzing the machine's operating status and CO₂ emissions. The ECO Idling Stop function detects the operating status of the machine and switches off the cooling system when the machine is not in use. 

The Sludgeless Tank prevents downtime by trapping contaminants such as suspended particles or metal sludge from the coolant; it is available as an option. 

The MS-320H saves space and processing time. 

Okuma has developed a horizontal machining center with a width of 1,580 mm and a depth of 3,120 mm, for flexible, space-saving production of small workpieces. With a spindle speed of 15,000 rpm, large and small series can be produced easily and in the shortest possible time.
