Largest range of weathering steel

NovioStaal from Wijchen was founded 25 years ago and supplies various and often high-quality steel grades in both standard and special dimensions. Customers can go there for coils, standard plates, but also for plates in special sizes or thicknesses. Nowadays, tubes and pipes are also available directly from stock in weather-resistant Corten steel. 

Fascinated by steel, Lex Coenen started NovioStaal in 1997 to supply customers with desired steel products that they could not easily find through the usual channels. From the beginning, the customer's needs have been the focus. This philosophy has been effortlessly continued by the three young owners who now jointly run the company: son Marc Coenen, Niek Janssen and Sven Kamps.

Weatherproof steel

In order to provide maximum service to their customers, the men bet on a large inventory of mainly high-quality sheet steel. This includes the so-called weather-resistant steel also known as corten steel or COR-TEN®. Under the influence of the outside air, the material will develop a patina layer in which an oxide skin is created that provides long-term protection. The steel thus acquires a long life and does not need any further treatment in the future.

Aesthetic and strong

Weather-resistant steel is available from NovioStaal in large quantities in different qualities, types and sizes, and always provided with the necessary material certificates. Thin plates, for example, are available in thicknesses from 1 to 25 mm and also in special sizes such as 6000 x 2000 mm as strip plates. In addition, the range includes quarto plates composed of individually rolled slabs. Due to their high strength, these plates are suitable for bridges, artworks, various (heavy) constructions, containers, boilers and pressure vessels, among other things.

Furthermore, the striking rusty appearance of weather-resistant steel makes it a popular material for structures and buildings where there are demands for both strength and aesthetics. These include many large outdoor "works of art" made from the maintenance-free and recyclable material, as well as bridges, tunnels, flues, street furniture, containers and consumer garden products such as edging, borders, barbecues and fireplaces. 

Extensive delivery options

Apart from the Corten steel, the company supplies various other high quality steels such as S355MC, S355J2+N, S420-S500-700MC 30Mnb5, 16Mo3, X120MN12, C45, as well as S235JR customized. Both as strip plates and in quarto plates. Outside the standard dimensions, almost all of these grades can also be supplied in special (rolled) length and/or width dimensions. 

Finally, the program provides strip steel in hot rolled, cold rolled, galvanized and also cold strip in various (special) qualities. For the storage of these large quantities of material, the ISO-certified and internationally supplying NovioStaal has a large storage area that also offers possibilities for call-off contracts. 

Knowledge, network and short delivery times

Finally, the huge network of and long-standing relationships with steel mills enables NovioStaal to flexibly supply the right product; also for very specific applications. The large stock, internally available knowledge, own transport possibilities and ultra-short lines between NovioStaal and the customers lead to short delivery times. 

So, no matter what: if a good customer calls, emails or apps at 7:30 in the morning with an urgent "urgency," every effort will be made to deliver the necessary material to site that same day. ■

A monthly newsletter that covers the latest developments in the steel world and is used by several customers as the basis for their purchasing strategy. NovioStaal has been sending it out for over twenty years to now many thousands of subscribers.
