Strengthened focus on the Belgian market

"We are convinced that we have the most innovative and fastest finishing machines. We just need to let the rest of the world know that." A slogan that clearly demonstrates Q-Fin's ambition. This company has become a specialist in the development, production and sale of machines for deburring, rounding and finishing metal sheet parts, as well as in installations for the extraction of grinding dust. By 2025, it wants to be among the top three European manufacturers in this segment, and it is working toward that goal. To increase brand awareness in the Belgian market, Q-Fin is participating in Machineering.

The new SER1200 XL Multibrush machine has the ability to do all types of finishing operations in one machine through five machining stations.

At Q-Fin, they started working ten years ago from the idea that the ideal deburring machine did not yet exist. Thus, the F200 was developed as the first in-house deburring machine. The company from Bergeijk in Brabant has since grown into a specialist in the development, production and sale of machines for deburring, rounding and finishing sheet metal parts, as well as in installations for the extraction of grinding dust.

"We impose on ourselves to launch at least two new developments every year. Not innovate for innovation's sake, but each time in response to a market demand," explains account manager Benelux Patrick van Scherpenseel. "So there's no shortage of ambition, and that hasn't hurt us. We currently have about 35 employees and our turnover increases by double digits every year. By 2025, we want to be among the top three European manufacturers of deburring machines."

Growing in Belgium

Q-Fin today supplies machines in Europe, but also, for example, in Australia and the United States. Still, they play mainly at the top in the Netherlands and there is still much work to be done outside the country.

"We are convinced that we have the most innovative and fastest finishing machines. We just need to let the rest of the world know that, including manufacturing companies in the Belgian market. While we are noticing an increasing demand in Belgium, there are still noticeably more demos for Dutch customers. To increase our brand awareness, we take initiatives ourselves to show customers what is possible with our systems," the account manager continues. "That's why, among other things, we participate in Machineering. At our booth, directly opposite our partner LVD, two salespeople and two practitioners will welcome Belgian entrepreneurs to present to them our total solutions for deburring, rounding and finishing. At this booth we will present a selection of our range, including the TopGrinder, the F200, the F1200 XL and a wet working extraction system. On a TV screen we will further show a company presentation and introduce a number of new developments, such as the SER1200 Multibrush."

Wide range

Q-Fin's range today includes many different semi- and fully automatic deburring machines. Hot runners include the TopGrinder, F200 and F1200 machine, each with its own features. In 2020, Q-Fin released the DS600 and DS1200, stand-alone machines that remove slag from plasma-cut pieces before further machining.

"Other innovations include the Q2S1200, a reversing unit for automatically turning sheet metal, and the 5-station SER1200 XL Multibrush. Among other things, this all-in-one machine can put a directionless finish, line finish and rounding with Radius 3 mm on a workpiece. We also build our own wet-acting extraction systems from stainless steel, which we combine with the finishing machines, ensuring effective and safe extraction of the grinding dust," says Patrick van Scherpenseel.

He sees a growing demand for automation in and around the deburring machine. This is something Q-Fin is also betting on. "Our machines operate more and more autonomously. The operator only has to choose the program via a multilingual and intuitive HMI touch screen, or the machine sets itself via a barcode scanner that can read the information from the ERP package. Constant quality is guaranteed this way and operating errors are excluded."
