Description

To arrive at a "lean organization" You should assess how your organization currently scores on the "leanscale", In other words, what is the "lean DNA of your organization." You need to understand the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats so that you can make the right strategic decisions with knowledge and baggage.

In the lean organization, it is imperative that sufficient attention be paid to order and cleanliness. The 5S method provides the necessary assurance. You should have knowledge of improvement techniques, such as, for example, problem solving, root cause analysis, 20/80 pareto, PDCA, ... or consider six sigma that seeks to minimize variation in business processes, or consider installing Poka-Yoke's  to minimize errors. Both techniques strive for production with no or very little dropout.

Reducing changeover times and lead times in addition to providing cost savings, will also provide increased customer service, viz. producing small batches with shorter lead times.
