To serve their growing customer base faster, Metalaser has expanded its machine park considerably. For this, the company from Houthalen chose the metalworking machines and the expertise of Q-Fin.
Metalaser specializes in supplying laser-cut parts from metal sheets and tubes to metal fabricators and machine builders of all kinds. The company also provides additional operations such as CNC bending, CNC drilling, rolling and welding. "We want to offer our customers the best quality at competitive prices," says founder and owner, Frank Nys. "Both for large and small series, as well as piece work, we can guarantee very short delivery times."
"Because we really play off our short delivery time as an asset, we have to live up to it," says Nys. "That is why we are constantly looking for ways to produce faster without sacrificing quality in the process. One of those ways is the continuous optimization of our machinery." Therefore, over the past year, the company started looking for some new machines to be able to produce more and faster. In that search, the company quickly came across Q-Fin, the Dutch manufacturer of industrial machines for deburring, grinding and rounding metal parts. "We tested and compared several manufacturers and Q-Fin clearly came out on top," Nys said.
"At the end of June we traveled to the Q-Fin demo center in Bergeijk. We had some of our products with us, because we wanted to test them extensively on different machines. The Q-Fin specialists assessed our products and suggested the appropriate machines, setups and sanding materials for this purpose. After the various tests, we were immediately impressed with the finishing quality and the possibilities of the proposed solutions." On October 6, Metalaser finally placed an order for an F1200 deburring machine for wide pieces up to 1,200 mm wide, an F200XL deburring machine for sheet metal parts from 10 to 200 mm wide, and a WES6000 hand-operated mobile machine for grinding, deburring, rounding and polishing metal pieces. The WES6000 wet-acting extractor also came with the order form. "Ten days later, the machines had already been delivered and installed in our workshop," says Nys. "After the two installation days, four of our people received extensive training on the various machines. Because the machines are very smooth and intuitive to operate, a few hours' training was sufficient."
Nys is clearly a satisfied man: "We are very pleased with the new additions to our machine park. The machines are very solid and practical and are smooth and easy to set up. Moreover, they allow us to work more efficiently and safely and to present even better results to our customers. And all at a significantly shorter machining time. For now, we're set for another time with our updated machinery, but if we need additional machines in the future, we know where to go!"
