The use of CAD/CAM packages has been well established in the metal industry for several years. But software is more than just purchasing. TOPSOLID Belgium therefore not only supplies software specially developed for the metal sector. It also values personal guidance. Through training courses and a Userday, users can get the most out of the software.
"With products such as TopSolid'Steel, TopSolid'Design and TopSolid'Cam, our integrated CAD/CAM software package has been specially developed for the needs of the metal industry," says Jasper Steylaerts, business development manager at TOPSOLID BELGIUM. "The open 3D software gives the designer unlimited freedom in terms of design and allows him to control production without difficulty. The CAM software recognizes modifications in the design (CAD) and can convert them to the correct operations in the CAM programming. Moreover, by linking to an integrated database (PDM ), all projects can be clearly stored. The projects are nicely structured and there is insight into the changes that have been made. The interaction between CAD/CAM and PDM makes Topsolid extremely suitable for companies that handle various metal activities under one roof."
TopSolid is a program with many features. "We find it important that the functionalities are used correctly and that our customers can work with them quickly after purchase. This is why we also offer training, at various levels. The focus here is not only on the general use of the software package, but also on the use of the software in their specific sector."
Every year there is an update to the software. "As with updates to Office or Windows, improvements and extras made do not always stand out immediately. That's why we also organize an Userday every year. On the Userday, customers get the chance to see which functionalities are new and we give a hint of what other developments are coming. During the interactive workshops it becomes clear how the newest already available functionalities can be applied. Finally, there is extensive opportunity to network with us and with like-minded people from the industry."
Steylaerts gives some examples of useful features of the package. "PDM Multi user allows you to work with multiple designers on the same project.
Freeshape allows intelligence to be added back to stepfiles that are exchanged. Linkmovement allows you to control the movements of the driven head relative to the piece and spindle. By presetting the movements in advance, you can gain time and avoid collisions. And also by working with methods in which various operations are documented, the operator can use the same milling strategy on similar projects and thus save a lot of time. These are just a few functionalities that have already proved their worth with many customers."
During Userday, both existing and new functionalities are discussed. "The combination of refreshing and deepening certain functionalities and explaining new features was perceived as very positive during the last Userday." That took place on May 31. "By the way, it was our first meeting since the corona crisis began. The event participants proved the absentees wrong and are already looking forward to the next edition."
TOPSOLID Belgium's team also welcomed the visit of the parent company's CEO Richard LAMURE, based in France, and branch manager Marc Choquin. "They thanked the customers for their presence and loyalty to TopSolid. We are of course pleased to see that the corporate CEO also values good customer relations."
